I must say, this poem contest was a success! Every poem was written beautifully, and made me wish I was the one who wrote it However only one poem can win! I had a group of my friends who are avid poets judge the poems, and it was a very close tie with the poems (5, 4, 4). And the winner of 100 karma points (meaning you will be very close to being made a Mod) and a foal/new horse slot to be used at anytime (pm me first before using) is.... SHASTA! Here is her winning poem, The Hard Way!
~* The Hard Way *~
He is born.
Strong and free-willed.
He stands, his pride boasting alive.
He runs.
He attacks the ground with great speed,
He brings heaven down to his hooves with ease.
He grows.
He is three.
He will be trained.
They bring the saddle,
The bit
The heavy hands
The pain.
He doesn't understand.
Why do they do this?
He fights, he pulls, he pushes.
They beat him.
He doesn't give.
They leave him,
To suffer in the sun, no water in sight.
New people.
They come to see the house.
They love the house.
They love the horse.
Harley is loved again.
They see him.
The real him.
They try to train him.
A softer hand,
A loving heart.
And he tries.
He is still trying.
He is still loved.
He forgives.
He loves.
And is loved.
~* Can I say, this is a true story about my horse, Harley. I love him to death <33 *~
And here are the other two fabulously amazing poems
Some people say that horseback riding is the art of staying atop a horse
Some people say that horseback riding is the easiest thing to do
Some people say the horseback riding is old-fashioned
Some people say that horseback riding is dangerous
Some people say that horseback riding is useless
Some people say that horseback riding is stupid
Some people say that horseback riding is this and that
The rest of us say that horseback riding is the best thing that has ever happened
Whose side are you on?
by Kaz
Like a Sea
I gallop around in the night
Fueled only by the ocean's light
The water laps at my feet
I close my eyes and listen to my hoof beats
Like a sea my golden mane
Colored white by the time of day
Flows like an endless Beach
As I smell the scent of a fresh Peach
I canter back and see the sight
Of my red barn, silver in the night
My neigh rings out
And my owner waves and shouts
Like a sea my owner's hair
A silver mane, very fair
Ripples like a silver lake
I look away for my own sake
She holds out a Peach
I think again of that beach
I nicker and nudge her happily
She sighs sadly
Like sea the truck drives up
My new owner hops out and says 'Sup?'
My legs flow like and endless bridge
So I will end up living in a wild ledge

Kaz and Ajax also win 50 karma points each for entering- congrats everyone!
